Frequently Asked Questions
-
It’s my first time at the studio - what facial should I book?
We recommend booking the Signature 45 as a first facial to get a baseline understanding of where your skin is at, your skin goals and paths forward to get you on the right path.
Do I need to stop using any products ahead of my treatment?
Please stop any products with active ingredients 2 days before your treatment including exfoliation, retinoids and vitamin c.
Can I get a facial if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! Please let your provider know if you are pregnant and/or breast feeding, and they will adjust the treatment accordingly using pregnancy-friendly products and modalities.
How long after getting injectables and/or lasers should I wait to get a facial?
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before getting a facial after injectables and 3 weeks post laser treatments or other professional skin procedures before receiving a facial. If your medical provider has given you different post-treatment instructions, please follow their guidance.
Are there any reasons I may not be able to receive a treatment?
Your safety and skin health are our priority. Certain medications, health conditions, or recent procedures may require us to modify or postpone your treatment. Please contact us prior to booking if any of the following apply to you:
You are currently taking isotretinoin (Accutane) or have taken it within the past six months.
You have an active cold sore, open wound, infection, or contagious skin condition in the treatment area.
You are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
You have recently had laser, microneedling, a chemical peel, injectables, surgery, or another professional skin procedure.
You are currently taking medications that may affect skin sensitivity or healing.
You have a known allergy or sensitivity that may be relevant to your treatment.
If you’re unsure whether any medication, condition, or recent procedure affects your appointment, please contact us at info@sjskinstudio.com before booking.

What should I expect during the Clear Skin Consultation?
During the Clear Skin Consultation, your provider will talk through an overview of the program with you, discuss if you are a candidate and treat your skin with an appropriate treatment based on your concerns and skin needs.
What is the Clear Skin Program?
The program follows a structured, results-driven approach combining in-studio treatments, personalized home care, and bi-weekly virtual check-ins to monitor your progress and adjust your routine as needed.
Personalized Home Care: If we determine you’re a candidate during your consultation, you’ll receive a customized skincare routine and lifestyle recommendations, followed by an email recapping your plan. To ensure consistent results, you’ll be required to follow the recommended routine and discuss any outside products with your provider before incorporating them.
Bi-Weekly Check-Ins: Every two weeks, you’ll submit photos and a brief update on your skin. Based on your progress, we may adjust product frequency, AM/PM use, or introduce new products.
In-Studio Treatments: Following your initial consultation, treatments are $175 and recommended every four weeks. Each treatment is customized to your skin and may include a gentle chemical peel when appropriate.
This clinical approach is designed to support long-term skin clarity and rebuild confidence through education, consistency, and expert care.
What should I expect with extractions and any down time?
Extractions are always optional. We take great care and patience with extractions, but all skin responds differently. You might experience redness, tenderness, or swelling for 12-48 hours after the appointment depending on how many extractions were needed.
Should I come to my appointment with or without makeup?
Come as you are! Makeup will be removed as part of your treatment. If possible, we recommend avoiding heavy makeup immediately following your facial.

I am prepping for my wedding - when should I book my appointment?
The sooner, the better! Depending on your skin goals, we recommend scheduling your first appointment at least eight weeks before your wedding. Ideally, we’d like enough time to perform your planned treatment at least once, see how your skin responds, and make any necessary adjustments before your final pre-wedding treatment.
How close to my wedding should I get my final facial?
For existing clients, we generally recommend scheduling your final treatment approximately 3-5 days before your wedding. If you have never received a facial with us before, we do not recommend trying a new treatment immediately before your wedding or another major event.

What is the studio cancellation policy?
Please provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or reschedules.
Cancellations and reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged 100% of the total service fee.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving approximately five minutes before your scheduled appointment. You’re welcome to arrive earlier; however, because the studio may be in use with another client, the door may be locked until closer to your appointment time. We appreciate your patience while your provider finishes the previous treatment.
What if I am running late?
Please let us know by emailing info@sjskinstudio.com or messaging us through the Square appointment text message. We’ll do our best to accommodate you; however, late arrivals may result in a shortened treatment so we can remain on schedule for the next client. You will still be responsible for the full cost of your scheduled service.
